Glendale - The Common Council will discuss options for a one-day community celebration to replace the three/four day Glendale Days at its Feb. 13 meeting.
The city budget has $10,000 for the event, but there are many decisions ahead about what the event will be.
City Administrator Richard Maslowski said one option might be a one-day event somewhat similar to Glendale Days at Kletzsch Park. Another might be a community-focused event at the Bavarian Inn.
Maslowski said the council tossed around many ideas at its meeting Monday night. They include separating the event from the Fourth of July.
In the past there has been a citizen committee that worked on Glendale Days and its one-day Fourth of July celebration that preceded it. The city lacks a committee and without that help, Maslowski said city staff would find it difficult to organize and plan it. City staff has decreased and Maslowski said he anticipates recall elections will keep staff busy in June and July.
Mayor Jerry Tepper is forming a committee to consider the city's options and will report to the council Feb. 13.
